About me

Hi, I’m super stoked you made it to my page! A bit about me, I’m Jon Mann, an engineer, traveller, foiler, and all round watersports fanatic.

I’ve been doing watersports (kiting and wakeboarding) passionately since 2014 and caught the the foil bug in 2019 as part of my knee rehab from an MCL tear. Ever since then I’ve been foil brained and have grown into almost all the foil disciplines! My favourite discipline has to be downwinding (in all forms, wing, prone and sup) and so long as I can arrange a buddy / shuttle will always have my preference.

Why make this site

I received my kite instructor certification (IKO) in 2016 and it changed my view on what it means to transition from beginner to competent independent rider as I realised how little a kite course covers with regard to becoming fully independent. As a result I decided to try and help people in their journey with all the tips and tricks I’ve learnt along the way (be it foiling technique or gear related). As I’ve grown in the various foiling disciplines, I’ve picked up things that I wish I’d known as a beginner and have tried and condense some of my thoughts here to help people getting into foiling (of course I’m always open to help you out in a coaching session).
